100 years of community support

From humble beginnings to becoming the national carrier, Qantas has been part of Australia's story for more than 100 years. Here are some highlights.

2009: We began collaborating with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation to help restore corals across the Great Barrier Reef and other iconic Australian coral reefs.

Qantas Regional Grants program

Our annual regional grants program offers A$2 million in support to Australian-based organisations and projects that are doing amazing work for our country's regional areas.

We recognise regional communities as the root of the spirit of Australia. With the Qantas Regional Grants program, we're looking to help these communities sustain brighter futures by providing financial, flight and marketing support to charities, organisations, projects and individuals.

Resident fares

Qantas was founded more than 100 years ago in outback Queensland, and we continue to play an important role connecting regional Australia. Through our Resident Fares program, we provide reduced fares for residents of selected regional areas in Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia, making affordable air transport more accessible in remote towns.

Championing reconciliation

We strive to reflect the Spirit of Australia; a spirit that’s more than 60,000 years old and celebrates the knowledge and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As Australia’s national carrier, we have a clear role to play when it comes to reconciliation: the great opportunity to share this culture with the world. We also have a responsibility to take action to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and build a more inclusive society for all.
