When to visit

During winter is the best time to spot manta rays (May to November), humpback whales (July to November), dolphins and even the very rare dugongs. The dry season runs from August to December with sunny weather and the wet season is in May and June. Most visitors plan a vist to the reef to see the famous whale shark, with the season running from March to June.

What is the main airport called?

Learmonth (Exmouth) Airport (LEA) is located approximately 36km from Exmouth town centre, in Western Australia. It's a small airport located withiin the RAAF Leamonth base.

Arriving in Exmouth

The friendly staff at Exmouth Airport will welcome you on arrival. Once you collect your bags, there are several transport options available to get you into town.

Getting into Exmouth from Exmouth Airport

Learmonth Airport is 36 kms from Exmouth. Exmouth Bus Charters provides a shuttle bus service into Exmouth. If you’re travelling to Coral Bay, transfers can be arranged with Coral Bay Airport Transfers. Car rental and charter services are also available.

Getting around Exmouth

To explore the Exmouth region and the reef you'll need to hire a car or book one of the many tours available. If you’re planning to visit the region beyond Exmouth it’s important to be prepared and let someone know of your plans.
