When to visit

Cape Town has mild wet winters and dry, warm summers. The best times to visit Cape Town are from March to May and from September to November, with fewer crowds and pleasant weather. Temperatures range from 20°C to 23°C, making it a perfect time to tour many of the wineries. Cape Town International Airport (CPT) Is the primary international airport serving the city of Cape Town, South Africa. It is located approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the city centre. The airport serves both domestic and international flights.

Arriving in Cape Town

The staff at Cape Town Airport will greet you when you land and assist with your travel needs. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are different transport options available to get you on your way.         

Getting into Cape Town from Cape Town Airport

With a range of options from public transport to app-based ride services, you can easily find a mode of transport to suit your travel needs. There are various car rental agencies available at the airport, located at the Transport Plaza and Central Terminal Building. It’s best to pre-book a rental car before your arrival and takes approximately 20 minutes to get into town. Other transport options at Cape Town Airport include shuttles arranged privately with hotels or agencies, Uber, airport transfers, and the MyCiti mass rapid transport bus system which runs into town. MyCiti is convenient if you are travelling lightly. If not, a pre-arranged transfer, taxi or car hire are your best options.

Getting around Cape Town

The best way to get around Cape Town is by car with plenty of parking and car hire companies available. Uber is a popular and safe way to get you where you want to go. Other options include the city sightseeing bus to see the major attractions such as District Six Museum, Noordhoek Beach and Table Mountain National Park. Public transport options include the MyCity Buses, Golden Arrow buses, minibus taxis and Metrorail train service. Taxis can be booked in advance or take a shared cab.

What is the main airport called? 

Auckland Airport (AKL). The airport is a major airline hub in New Zealand and there are many domestic and international destinations for visitors to continue on to.  The airport is located near Mangere,  21 kilometres south of the Auckland city centre. 

Baggage allowance

 Passengers on Qantas flights from Auckland are allocated checked baggage If you need more luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online prior to departure.      

Checking in 

Ensure you check-in online or via the Qantas App before you arrive at the airport from 24 hours before departure.
