When to visit

Delhi has an extreme climate. The mild winter months from November to February are the best time to visit the Indian capital, avoiding the worst of the heat and the rain. The average temperature is around 12°C. However, this can be the worst time of year for air pollution and fog. Temperatures in summer (April to June) reach 38°C which is very hot and from June to September is monsoon season that drenches the streets with downpours.

What is the main airport called?

Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). It is the primary international airport serving Delhi, India as well as the rest of northern India. The airport is located in Palam, 15 km south-west of the New Delhi Railway Station and 16 km from New Delhi city centre.

Arriving in Delhi

The staff at Delhi Airport will greet you when you land and from there, getting into the city is easy.   

Getting into Delhi from Delhi Airport

There are a number of bus, taxi, shuttles, train and car rental options available at the airport to take you to your destination. Linking the Delhi Airport and New Delhi is the high-speed Delhi Metro Rail. The Airport Express Line links Indira Gandhi International Airport to prominent points within New Delhi within an estimated travel time of 23 minutes. The bus runs shuttle services for every 30 minutes, connecting the airport to the central parts of Delhi including Connaught Place and Interstate Bus Terminal. Outside the terminal there is a taxi service or alternatively you may wish to book a luxury taxi service to get to your destination in comfort. Delhi Airport is connected to the city by train or you may wish to hire a car.

Getting around Delhi

Delhi is well connected and it's easy to get around the city. Public transport is the best way to get around with the most popular mode of transport being the bus. It is a cost-effective way to explore the city. Delhi, the National Capital of India, is well connected by railway lines and the Delhi metro. Taxis, auto rickshaws and cycle rickshaws are other ways to explore the sights, alternatively, you may wish to join one of the many tours.

Auckland Airport (AKL). The airport is a major airline hub in New Zealand and there are many domestic and international destinations for visitors to continue on to.  The airport is located near Mangere,  21 kilometres south of the Auckland city centre.
