When to visit

Kochi has a tropical monsoon climate, due to its coastal location. The best time to visit serene Kochi is during winter (October to February) when the weather is pleasant with least rainfall. Average temperatures range between 17°C and 30°C. It’s the perfect time to enjoy the pristine beaches and adventure activities. June to September brings heavy rainfall with some monsoons, making it tricky to see the sights. Summer is very hot and humid with temperatures between 20°C and 37°C.

What is the main airport called?

Cochin International Airport (COK). It is an international airport serving the city of Kochi, in the state of Kerala, India. Located at Nedumbassery, about 25 kilometres northeast of the city centre. The airport has three passenger terminals and it the world’s first fully solar powered airport.

Getting into Kochi from Cochin International Airport

Kochi is well connected with a number of taxi, buses, ride share, metro, trains and car rental options available at the airport to get you to Kochi city centre. Booking a pre-paid taxi is a seamless way to get into the city with counters available at the domestic and international terminals. It’s approximately 40 minutes to town. The Kochi metro runs every 15 minutes and is a cost-effective way to get to the city. An airport metro bus runs on a regular schedule, or you may wish to rent a car though the roads can be busy with traffic. Alternatively, you may wish to book a town car, ride-share service or hotel shuttle.

Getting around Kochi

Getting around Kochi is easy, with a number of transport options to suit your needs. Kochi Train operate throughout the city with regular services. Ferries are the fastest and most enjoyable form of transport between Fort Cochin and the mainland. Local buses run from the Fort Cochin bus stand or you can take an autorickshaw from pre-paid stands or take a taxi. Bicycle and motorcycles can be hired from agents in Fort Cochin. The Kochi metro connects various suburbs within the city. Uber and Ola rideshare services operate around Kochi, or alternatively you may wish to join one of the many tours from the old neighbourhood or to the iconic Chinese fishing nets.

Auckland Airport (AKL). The airport is a major airline hub in New Zealand and there are many domestic and international destinations for visitors to continue on to.  The airport is located near Mangere,  21 kilometres south of the Auckland city centre.

 Passengers on Qantas flights from Auckland are allocated checked baggage If you need more luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online prior to departure.      

Checking in 

Ensure you check-in online or via the Qantas App before you arrive at the airport from 24 hours before departure.
