Although studio rooms are also available, the convenience is significantly upped by booking an apartment. Dressed in shades of white and charcoal, they include private balconies with city views and full kitchenettes with ample bench space. All have bathtubs and some can connect to studio rooms if travelling with family or in groups.
Restaurants and bars
The Croft House, the hotel’s relaxed, ivy-strung eatery, is a pleasant surprise. It serves locally and sustainably sourced goodies from dawn until dusk, beginning with cocoa-balsamic-glazed wild mushrooms on toast for brunch through to watermelon-laced Moreton Bay Crab for dinner. The coffee (from Byron Bay roaster Marvell Street) is excellent, too.
Travel for work
The property’s meeting and events spaces, located on level five, have adjoining terraces, with bar-style seating, and are a welcome change for conferences where natural light seems to disappear.
Solo business travellers are also catered for with full-sized work desks in even the studio rooms, as well as free wi-fi for members of the Accor Live Limitless (ALL) loyalty program, which is complimentary to join.
Gym and pool
A heated lap pool awaits on level five, framed by Brisbane’s surrounding skyscrapers and the small but functional gym peers out onto it. There’s also a small sauna, on the same level.
What you need to know
For all its business-traveller savvy, there are more than a few additions geared towards families. Warm days are made infinitely easier by the kids pool and for parents, there are babysitting services so all the benefits of this stellar location won’t go to waste.
