The Ritz-Carlton – Hotel Review

Perched on the banks of Swan River, the Ritz-Carlton is one of Perth’s finest addresses, home to 205 contemporary rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows that beautifully frame city and water views. The burgeoning precinct of Elizabeth Quay is right at its doorstep but, despite its proximity, you may never want to leave the hotel. Read on for the full review.

Located on level five, the poolside Songbird Bar & Lounge is the place to see and be seen. Nab a table in the glamorous dining room with the bar’s signature eponymous cocktail (a heady blend of Belvedere vodka, davidson plum and Belsazar Rosé Vermouth), or ask for a spot on the terrace for sunset views. Then dress up for the renowned Hearth restaurant, where executive sous chef Danny Feng turns local produce into irresistible courses such as smoked Abrolhos Islands scallop with finger lime.

The absolute-waterfront hotel occupies prime real estate in Perth CBD’s Elizabeth Quay precinct, right next to the iconic Bell Tower. With easy access to public transport (including the Rottnest Island ferry terminal), the hotel is about a 20-minute drive to the airport.

Room types

If luxury is space then you can’t go wrong at the Ritz-Carlton, where even the smallest rooms are 50 square metres large. As you enter, all you’ll be able to see is the view – wide-angle vistas of the city, the river, the parks and the neighbouring Bell Tower. But look closer and you’ll soon notice next-level furnishings, such as wood-panelled feature walls, king-sized beds, window-side seating areas and glossy ensuites with twin sinks and deep standalone baths. Bluetooth speakers, Asprey amenities and eclectic blinds that open and close at the touch of a button further add to creature comforts. 

Restaurants and bars

Chef Danny Feng is at the helm of the hotel’s Hearth restaurant, where he turns hyper local and seasonal produce into exquisite courses such as Manjimup marron with roast-chicken broth. Want something a bit more relaxed? Head to Hearth Lounge next door for a “large plate” of lamb ragu pappardelle or head to the fifth-floor Songbird Bar & Lounge where you can enjoy inventive cocktails alongside crab tostadas and beef sliders. 

Travel for work

With almost 2000 square metres of event spaces, expert planners, state-of-the-art AV facilities and talented chefs who can create bespoke food and beverage packages, the Ritz-Carlton offers top-notch meetings and conference facilities. Plus, it’s a short walk to the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

There’s a swank spa with a large menu of treatments, plus a 24-hour well-equipped gym and an infinity-edge pool open from 8am to 7pm.

Take a moment to admire the design of the high-ceilinged lobby, with honey-toned wooden floor boards, soaring stone columns and enormous glass sculptures.
