Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero – Hotel Review
It’s hard to beat a rooftop terrace bar that has the Eiffel Tower almost within touching distance. That’s exactly what crowns Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero, a business traveller-friendly right bank hotel that puts the best of Paris spectacularly on show. Centrally located with smart, inviting rooms, it’s a frontrunner for the short-time-not-a-long-time crowd. Read on for the full review.
Where is Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero?
Nestled in the upmarket Trocadero neighbourhood of the 16th arrondissement in the city’s western corner, the hotel is surrounded by charming 19th-century Haussmann buildings and leafy, wide streets. From here, Paris’ two main airports of Charles de Gaulle and Orly are both less than 30 minutes away by taxi.
What’s near Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero?
The quadrant of Paris given over to the Eiffel Tower and its surrounding parkland is just steps away; a mere five-minute walk from the front door and you’re in Jardin du Trocadéro. A further 15-minute stroll and you’re at the foot of the Iron Lady in all her glory. The big ticket Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Élysées are also a five minute cab ride.

While common areas of the contemporary-feel hotel don’t shy away from colour, the rooms are a little more muted. Taupe curtains frame floor-to-ceiling windows with rewards no matter the room number – some with full-scale Eiffel Tower glimpses, especially the higher you go, but those that go without a look at the landmark have lovely glimpses of the neighbourhood’s characteristic mansard roofs. There are some pretty slick standard inclusions, too, including black-out curtains, memory-foam mattresses, Nespresso machines with pods from local roasters, and natural amenities from Apivita.
Restaurants and bars
Although the light-flushed, near-always open L’Esprit Nouveau on the ground floor is a fine place to dine, you’ll want to have as many meals as you can at Eylau Paris, the rooftop terrace eatery that sports a 360-degree panorama of the city, with exceptional Eiffel Tower views. The menu is mostly light bites – charcuterie platters, seasonal veg with truffle oil and veal tartare – with Champagne, cocktails and local craft beers from the 19th arrondissement.
Travel for work
The hotel has four meeting rooms available for hire, each one a delightfully colourful, characterful change from the stock-standard boardrooms tend towards. The appeal for business travellers is clear: all rooms have comfy, dedicated spaces for working, with free wi-fi. May we suggest taking clients drinks to the rooftop, where the setting will more than surely help you seal the deal?
Gym
It won’t be the most memorable moment of your stay but the fitness centre will do the trick for a few hours of calorie burning.
Accessibility
Facilities for travellers with disabilities span visual alarms, adapted cutlery, accessible common areas and a policy that welcomes service animals.
What you need to know
You won’t miss the chance to experience the rooftop during winter: enormous plastic bubbles have been known to shield seating areas from the frosty air (but not from those spectacular views, of course).
