NH Collection Roma Palazzo Cinquecento – Hotel Review

The fresh and sleek NH Collection Roma Palazzo Cinquecento is a few hundred metres from Rome’s bustling Termini Station, but thanks to an expansive rooftop bar, breeze-filled ground floor restaurant, well-appointed rooms and its very own slice of Roman history, you’d never know this hotel was so close to one of the city’s major transport hubs. Where is NH Collection Roma Palazzo Cinquecento? 

There’s an undeniable convenience about the hotel’s proximity to the travel hub of Roma Termini (it sits at the edge of the piazza outside the station’s entrance). The garden that rings the hotel like a guarded moat helps to cushion some of this hubbub. From here, a train to Leonardo da Vinci airport takes 32 minutes on the Leonardo Express.

What’s near NH Collection Roma Palazzo Cinquecento?

While big-ticket landmarks such as the Trevi Fountain are a little deeper into the city (about 25 minutes by foot), there are some treasures much closer such as the National Museum of Rome – the Baths of Diocleziano, just 300 metres away. 

Room types 

The shiny and sleek aesthetic that sets the decorative tone for the hotel in the lobby continues in the rooms, with calming, creme shades. Comfort is a clear focus, with cushy “Sleep Better” mattresses, fluffy bathrobes, rainwater shower heads, Lavazza (naturally) espresso machines and work stations, all easily integrated into the compact (but not squashy) space. The Premium Room with Terrace is something a little special if you’re keen on carving out a private slice of Rome – a morning coffee on the terrace can scarcely be beaten, can it?

Restaurants and bars 

The on-site dining spaces are gloriously generous, with the clear frontrunner being the hotel’s incredible roof terrace, complete with sprawling views of the eternal city. It’s here that guests can enjoy a sunset aperitivo and, in summer, a selection of light bites to refresh you for the evening ahead. 

The hotel’s ground floor restaurant Grand Tour is a close second, with huge doors opening out onto an internal courtyard. Both breakfast and lunch is served in this breezy room (there’s an option of à la carte and buffet for the former), with a smattering of broad Italian classics – ravioli, fettuccine – with the more international options of hearty salads and treats, too.

Travel for work

There are six meeting rooms on-site, all equipped with the necessities. Rooms also have access to free wi-fi and, while all have some small tables to double as desks, most have full-sized workstations. 

Gym

There’s a diminutive gym on-site for fitness with cardio equipment and free weights.

What you need to know

Portions of the city’s original Roman wall dating back to the 4th century is contained within the property, which is quite the sight to behold.
