Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort – Hotel Review
An absolute paradise for kids (and parents, by extension), Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort captures the best of the Fijian hospitality in an idyllic setting of tropical gardens and swaying palm trees. Read on for the full review.
Rooms and bures — traditional thatched-roof cabins — are peacefully set among 16 hectares of tropical gardens, with the pristine shoreline of the Coral Coast at the resort’s edge. Enjoyed by families, who can make use of the extensive kids’ club facilities, and couples alike, Outrigger really does cater to all.
Where is Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort?
Outrigger faces a glittering shoreline on Viti Levu’s south-west on the Coral Coast, about an hour and a half’s drive from Nadi airport. Direct airport transfers are your best bet (others stop off at other resorts on the way) and can easily be organised with the hotel.
What’s near Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort?
Dragging the kids away from the resort is no easy task but you might have some luck with a trip to Kula Wild Adventure Park. Both a water and wildlife park, it’s less than a kilometre away.

The resort has both rooms, suites and bures (thatched huts based on the traditional Fijian style), all kitted out with simple, beachy furniture. The Beachfront Bure, with tapa cloth-draped ceilings, is the standout choice, not least for the added perk of complimentary Talai Butler Service — a standard for all Deluxe Ocean View accommodation. Expect afternoon deliveries of champagne and canapes, direct to your door.
Restaurants and bars
There’s an entire galaxy of places to eat at Outrigger. Couples and special-occasion diners should book a table at fine diner Ivi, where the traditional kokoda (a ceviche-like creation) is made tableside with fresh coconut milk.
Pan-Asian cuisine is served at Baravi Restaurant, a lunch and dinner spot alongside the pool, while the beachside Sundowner Bar & Grill is the spot for cocktails and pizza.
Travel for work
We’d hardly recommend working while staying at Outrigger but it can be done. All rooms have dining tables for laptop perching and in-room wi-fi is free.
Pool and spa
No Fijian resort is complete without the palm-fringed pool and Outrigger’s main lagoon-style offering is a blissful corner of the resort. There’s also an adults-only pool with a swim-up bar. And for purists, the icing-sugar sand of the beach is just a few steps beyond it.
The beautiful Bebe Spa, which uses organic Pevonia products, occupies a simply stunning location above the resort on the appropriately named Vakalomalagi Hill (or Heavenly Hill). Even before your treatment — which takes place in a room with an open-air balcony — it really does feel as though you’ve been transported to heaven.
Sustainability
Outrigger has a proactive approach to sustainability, dubbing 2022 a “Sustainable Summer”. Guests are invited to take part in beach clean-ups and educational talks and younger guests watch educational videos about marine life during their time at the on-site kids’ club.
What you need to know
There are two age-appropriate kids’ clubs at Outrigger (Little Riggers for three to seven years and Beach Riggers for eight to 12 years), as well as activities for teens. Thank the staff later.
