Beyond Sydney’s designer boutiques and vast shopping malls you’ll find a bounty of local markets, selling everything from organic produce to fresh flowers and vintage wares. Here are 10 Sydney markets you can’t miss.
Carriageworks Farmers Market
This award-winning market is home to more than 70 stalls that pride themselves on homemade, homegrown, local produce. Fill your basket with a colourful selection of fruit and vegetables, before tucking into a delicious breakfast. Make a beeline for Kylie Kwong’s food stall – you might just spot her there dishing out one of her delicious plates.

Bondi Farmers Markets and Bondi Markets
Bondi’s Saturday-morning stalls at the Farmers Market are bustling with hungry patrons. Whether you’re stocking up on weekly produce – including artisan cheeses, pastries and fresh flowers – or rolling out a picnic mat for Vietnamese phở, these markets have become one of Bondi’s most popular weekend attractions. On Sundays, there's Bondi Markets, where you can find crafts, wares, clothing and accessories from local designers alongside vintage finds and secondhand goods.

Kirribilli Markets
If you’re looking for a cultural weekend excursion head north to the monthly Kirribilli Art, Design & Fashion Market. You’ll be rewarded with a chance to explore over 200 stalls stocked with a diverse range of fashion, art, international food (at two dedicated eating areas: Eat Street and Gourmet Corner) and live music. If you stroll down to nearby Lavender Bay, you can also take in some of the best views in Sydney. The General Market, where you can find handcrafted wares and secondhand clothes, also features live music and eateries.

Kings Cross Market and Saturday Farmers Market
Located in Fitzroy Gardens, overlooking the El-Alamein Fountain, Kings Cross Market happens every Sunday and is full of stalls selling everything from bric-a-brac and handmade goods to vintage clothing and fresh-cut flowers and potted plants. The Saturday Farmers Market, on the other hand, is mostly all about food and you'll find it's a treasure-trove of fresh produce, cheese, meat and charcuterie, seafood, pickles, preserves and baked goods. Arrive hungry – on any given weekend, stallholders will be serving up all sorts of international plates: think gözleme, toasted bagels, bacon and egg rolls, paella, dumplings, curries, corn fritters and more.

Paddington Markets
A stalwart of Sydney’s shopping scene, Paddington Markets have been running since 1973 and have garnered a reputation for gorgeous handmade leather, ceramics and jewellery. Surry Hills Markets
This market has no determined speciality, but the trendy location makes for some decent handmade or second-hand finds – just be sure to get in early! The Surry Hills Markets run on the first Saturday of each month and serve as a fundraiser for the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre.

Glebe Markets
Glebe Markets’ eclectic array of stalls has made it the go-to for recycled fashion, homewares and accessories. Once you’ve picked up a bargain (or two), head to the food stalls for gözleme and nab a spot on the grass – there’s usually live music here, too.

The Beaches Market
Set in beautiful Pittwater on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, this weekly market offers a delicious spread of quality produce, including fruit and veg, meat (direct from farmers), dairy and sweet treats. Stay for coffee and a fresh bagel. The kids will be kept entertained with face painting, jumping castles and petting zoos.

The Finders Keepers
The Finders Keepers Market is a lively bi-annual design festival started in 2008 that celebrates more than 200 independent Australian artists and designers. The three-day markets are timed for autumn/winter and spring/summer and have taken place at various locations around the city. As of 2018, they are taking place in Barangaroo Reserve.
