The gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, Bundaberg  is a the ideal place to stay before heading off to see coral reefs and join colourful fish, turtles and manta rays for a swim. Plan your stay during November to March for the anticipated arrival of the majestic Mon Repos Turtles, an experience not to be missed.

Whether you’re travelling looking for a family adventure in the vibrant Queensland country town, a romantic escape, or a relaxing beach stay – there’s an array of holiday accommodation options.

To be centrally located in the city where you can stroll along the Burnett River, or weave your way through the local shops and cafes, opt for a hotel on the architecturally beautiful main street. For those after a beach break – there’s a range of ocean-view apartments and holiday parks at Moore Park Beach, Burnett Heads, Bargara, Innes Park, Coral Cove, Elliott Heads and Woodgate Beach. You’re spoiled for choice when it comes to incredible places to soak in the sun or relax in under the Bunya Pine trees, while taking in the ambience of the majestic Southern Pacific Ocean.

Things to do

Bundaberg and the Burnett Region are a great starting point to visit the majestic islands that make up the Southern Great Barrier Reef, such as Lady Elliot and Lady Musgrave Islands. Only a 25-minute flight from Bundaberg Airport will land you at Lady Elliot Island - home of the manta ray with over 700 individual manta rays known to be living in the crystal clear waters. Turtles are in abundance here – so be sure to plan a day trip snorkelling around the island for an ultimate water activity.

A great day trip and only 7km from Bundaberg is Mon Repos Beach where you can watch as thousands of turtles lay their eggs, and then later celebrate the arrival of thousands of tiny hatchlings.

No visit to Bundy is complete without a visit to visit to the Bundaberg Barrel or the Bundaberg Distiller. With the abundance of sugarcane grown here, it's farmed to produce the famous Bundaberg Rum or its ginger beer.

For a country town, Bundaberg and the Burnett Region are sure packed with exciting activities and excursions to do.
