When to visit

Known as The Events Capital of WA, the City of Busselton hosts a full calendar of festivals, fun runs, markets, and more. Located on beautiful Geographe Bay, Busselton is fringed with crystal-clear waters that make it the perfect location for swimming and dolphin spotting, while in town you’ll see the streets lined with an abundance of charming boutiques and eateries.

In summer (December to February), the city temperature averages around 28°C with afternoon sea breezes, making it a great time to enjoy the beach, fishing, and Busselton Jetty. Winter months (June to August) are cooler, with an average temperature of 18°C, the perfect time to explore the Margaret River wine region and Cape to Cape walking trail.

What is the main airport called?

Busselton Margaret River Airport (BQB), formerly known as Busselton Regional Airport, is in the Busselton suburb of Yalyalup, 9km from the town centre. Busselton is a major regional centre in the South West of Western Australia, 220km south of Perth and at the edge of the Margaret River wine region.

When your flight to Busselton lands, you’ll be greeted by the staff at Busselton Airport. From there, it’s easy to make your way to different parts of the city and surrounding areas.

Getting into Busselton

To reach Busselton city centre there are various transport options to suit your budget and needs. Car hire is available at the airport with the major providers to choose from, which makes it a handy option to explore the region, including the Busselton Jetty, beach and Margaret River wine region. Taxis are available with the rank located between the arrivals and departures buildings, you may wish to organise a shuttle prior to your arrival or even a charter flight. 

Getting around Busselton

The Margaret River Region is a popular self-drive destination and car hire is an excellent choice for visitors to get around. Car hire is available at the airport, but you can also find Hertz Busselton, Busselton & South West Car Hire, Avis and Northside Rentals currently operating in the City of Busselton. It takes just 1.5 hours to drive the length of the Margaret River Region from Busselton in the north all the way to Augusta in the south. A variety of organised tours are available, catering to different interests and needs. As is typical in regional Western Australia, public transport is limited to main routes only, so it’s best to organise a car or a driver for the duration of your holiday. Various cruise ships visit Busselton, arriving at Geographe Bay. In town, walking and cycling are convenient ways to get around.
