The best time to visit Amsterdam is between April and May or September and November. With mild temperatures and fewer tourists, makes it a good time for sightseeing. Getting into Amsterdam from Amsterdam Airport

Getting into Amsterdam from the airport is easy, thanks to the wide range of transport options available. Choose from taxis, bus, train, hotel shuttle, shared car or car hire. Taxi is a convenient option and is the fastest way to reach the centre of Amsterdam. It takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. The quickest mode of public transport is to take the train, taking around 20 minutes. The train station is located under the airport, and from there you can catch a direct train service to Amsterdam and other major cities in the Netherlands. Trains operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Another option is to take the bus with the boarding area directly outside the main foyer of the airport. Amsterdam Airport express bus is a cheaper option, the red buses depart every 15 minutes and the ride takes around 35 minutes. Shared cars are an affordable way without renting a car. It’s a car you can use for the duration of your journey, and you can park your car in many spaces in Amsterdam once your journey is complete. You may like to book a private driver or rent a car. It's best to pre-book a car from the airport and it's handy as you can explore more of Amsterdam. 

Getting around Amsterdam

Getting around Amsterdam is easy with an array of transport options to move around and explore the city. Choose from taxis, Uber, public transport, bicycle or car hire. Taxis are a convenient option with many taxi stands throughout the city particularly near attractions and stations. Ensure you get the driver to turn the metre on. If you're travelling in a group, a taxi bus is handy option or you can request an Uber through the app. Amsterdam has an excellent public transport system and you can travel in comfort by bus, train, ferry or tram. The tram is the perfect means of transport and it’s easy to get on and off and do some sightseeing along the way. Bus services can take you to most places quickly and affordably or you can use the metro service. The metro is generally quicker than the tram and you need a smart card to travel on public transport. Amsterdam is a bike friendly city as it's flat and the most popular way to get around with many cycle paths. It’s an excellent way to see the city and it's easy to rent a bike. You may like to rent a car to explore the city or join a tour.
