Cairo International Airport (CAI). It is the main international airport of Cairo and the largest and busiest airport in Egypt. The airport is located in Heliopolis, to the northeast of Cairo around 15 km from the business area of the city.

Getting into Cairo from Cairo Airport   

There are plenty of options for transport from Cairo Airport to the city centre. Choose from buses, taxi, limo, ride share and car rental. The most convenient way is by using one of the numerous limousine services, with pick-up points in front of the terminals. The prices are fixed depending on the destination and the car category, making it a comfortable way to travel. A shuttle bus called the automated people mover, is a free light rail train service that transfers you between terminals. From the Cairo Airport bus terminal, public buses run frequently to main destinations in Cairo, including Heliopolis, Nasr City and Downtown. Taxis are available and its best to take a white or yellow taxi as they are metered, taking about 45 minutes to get to the city. Ride share options, such as Uber are available for a comfortable way to get to your destination. Alternatively, you may wish to rent a car or book a private transfer.

Getting around Cairo

Getting around Cairo is easy with various options to get you where you want to go. The easiest way of getting around is by Metro, as its modern, air-conditioned and efficient. There are three lines which serve the vast city. Taxis are a convenient way to get around and there are metered and unmetered taxis. Yellow and white are metered and black are unmetered. It's best to take a metered taxi and some drivers offers a guide service too, or request an Uber through the app. The roads in Cairo are very busy, so it’s best not to hire a car for visitors. Alternatively, you may wish to join a tour or book a private mini bus with a driver if you’re travelling in a group.
