When to visit

Phnom Penh's weather is usually warm and tropical throughout the year. There are two seasons in Cambodia. The dry season which runs from December through April, when the northeast monsoon winds keep the days sunny and dry. From May to November, the southwest monsoon brings rain and high levels of humidity. December and January are the best time to visit Phnom Penh, when you'll be able to enjoy dry and cool weather. Temperatures average around 26°C.

Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH). It is the busiest and largest airport in Cambodia. The airport is located 10 kilometres west of Phnom Penh, the nation's capital.

Getting into Phnom Penh from Phnom Penh Airport

Getting into Phnom Penh is easy, with a range of transport options to suit your needs. Choose from taxis, city bus, hotel shuttle or tuk-tuk. Taxi is the safest means of transport, with airport taxis lining up just in front of the arrivals terminal. The airport is located 10km from the city centre and on average takes approximately 30 minutes to the city depending on the traffic. There is a bus network which is a cheap way to get to the city and operates a regular service. Take bus line 3 with the final stop at the night market. Airport tuk-tuks are available and a handy option with a set fare to the city. Alternatively, you may wish to organise a hotel shuttle. 

Getting around Phnom Penh

With plenty of transport options available in Phnom Penh, exploring the city and landmarks is easy. You can choose to walk, hire a bike, take a taxi, bus, tuk-tuk or motorcycle taxi. Tuk-tuks are a common way to travel around the city, it’s a carriage pulled by a motorcycle. You can hail a tuk-tuk anywhere in the street and is a handy mode of transport. Motorcycle taxis are great for short trips within Phnom Penh, and those which are driven by English-speaking locals can be found mostly in Phnom Penh’s tourist-friendly areas such as Sisowath Quay and Independence Monument. Travelling by cyclo is excellent for those looking to visit landmarks within the Phnom Penh City Centre such as the Royal Palace. You can also find them parked near hotels and restaurants and are a fun way to sightsee. City taxis are available and a safe and fast way to travel. City buses are cheap and authentic way to travel to see the city. Alternatively, you may wish to join a tour.
