Lord Howe Island’s climate is mild, year-round. The most popular time to visit Lord Howe is between September and May with pleasant temperatures of 21°C and 22°C in the water. Popular activities include; snorkelling, swimming, diving, hiking, glass bottom boat trips, North Bay adventures, Mt Gower hike, bird watching and walking. The winter months (June, July and August), the days can be sunny and warm. The daytime temperatures are around 19°C and 13°C at night.

Lord Howe Island Airport (LDH). The airport provides air transport to Lord Howe Island. Lord Howe Island, NSW is located in the Tasman Sea, 600 km east of Port Macquarie on the coast off mainland Australia. The airport is operated by the Lord Howe Island Board.

Arriving in Lord Howe Island

The friendly staff at Lord Howe Island will greet you when you land and are ready to assist. Once you collect your bag, there is only one option to get you on your way. The weight limit on Lord Howe flights is 14kg per person of checked baggage and 7kg of carry-on baggage.

Port Macquarie Airport (PQQ). It is located 5km west of the Port Macquarie CBD, off Hastings River Drive on Boundary Street. The airport on the northerneasten coast of NSW, is owned and managed by the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.

 Passengers on Qantas flights from Port Macquarie are allocated checked baggage If you need more luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online prior to departure.
