When to visit

The best times to visit Boston for the best weather and fewer crowds is in the spring (May to June) or autumn (September to October). In spring temperatures range from 10°C to 21°C, making it a lovely time to explore the city and take a cruise along the Charles River. Autumn is a popular time to visit with many festivals and the start of the Patriots football season. Summers are hot and can be humid ranging from 25°C to 27°C, though it's a good time to enjoy the Emerald Necklace parks and the Boston Harbor.

Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). It is an international airport that is located mostly in East Boston and partially in Winthrop, Massachusetts, United States. The airport is located approximately 5km from downtown Boston.

Arriving in Boston

The helpful staff at Boston Airport will be greet you when you land. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are a number of different transport options available to get you on your way.

Getting into Boston from Boston Airport 

There are multiple transport options available for passengers at Boston airport to easily get to the city. Choose from the MBTA train, airport shuttle, Logan Express Bus, ride share and car hire. The Logan Express bus is a nonstop bus that can take you to the city in approximately 45 minutes. Several bus companies and hotel shuttles provide transport to your destination. Water transport include ferries and water taxies between Logan Airport and Rowes Wharf. It's a scenic way to get to downtown Bostin in less than an hour. Limos and taxis are available with the taxi ranks located in the arrivals area of each terminal. As its only 5km to the city, it’s a quick way to get to town with a travel time of 15 to 25 minutes. Ride share companies are available through Uber and Lyft, booked through the app. It's possible to rent a car, which is a good option to move around. The car rental centre at Boston Logan Airport is located just a short ride from the terminals. There is a free shuttle bus that takes passengers there with the shuttle bus located at the lower level of each terminal.

Getting around Boston

Getting around Boston is easy, as downtown is compact, walkable, has plenty of taxis and an accessible public transport system. The MBTA is Boston’s public transportation system is a great way to get around quickly and cheaply. The “T” refers to the subway, which runs throughout Boston, into Cambridge and into nearby suburbs, providing access to all the attractions located in Boston. You can also take buses to get all over the city. Taxis are widely available and easy to flag down. Popular ride-sharing services are available in Boston as an alternative to taxis as well, with services like Lyft and Uber easy to use. Just be sure to download the app. Parking can be tricky in downtown, though if you plan to explore outside of Boston it can be a good option. Walking is a good way to explore the city as many attractions are close to each. Consider renting a bike for the day for a fun and memorable way to get around the city. You can also take a hop on/hop off trolley tour to see the sites at your own pace.
