The best times to visit North Carolina are from March to May and September to November when the temperatures drop from their summertime highs. As it’s springtime the flowers are in full bloom and the baseball is in full swiing, making it the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities. The temperatures range from 15 to 27°C. Autumn (September to November), the temperatures drop to around 15°C, making a great time for outdoor hikes and the Great Pumpkin Fest event. The summer months between June and August are considered high season. Summers can be hot and humid in Charlotte, but with plenty of water-based activities - it’s still a great time to visit.

Getting into Charlotte from Charlotte Douglas International Airport

Getting to and from Charlotte Douglas Airport (CLT) is easy with many different transportation modes available. With options ranging from public transportation to app-based ride services, you can find a mode of transport to meet your travel needs. Rental car companies are located in the Rental Car Facility in the Level 2 lobby of the Hourly Deck in front of the terminal. A taxi service is available curbside on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level. There are four taxi companies available through the Airport’s taxi queue: City Cab, Crown Cab, Green Cab and Yellow Cab. Limousines, Limousine Sedans and Shuttle or Van services are available only by pre-arrangement. Courtesy vehicles are available for select hotels and motels, along with app-based rideshare services - located on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level. The CATS Sprinter bus service provides a direct connection between Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Center City Charlotte.

Getting around Charlotte

The best way to get around Charlotte is by car, having your own set of wheels is your best way to navigate the Queen City. The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) bus and LYNX light rail are convenient ways to explore the neighbourhoods. Taxis are readily available in the Uptown area as well as ride-hailing services, such as Uber and Lyft that operate in Charlotte. A bike share system is also available along with electric scooters though Lime.
