Getting into Düsseldorf from Düsseldorf Airport
With a range of transport options available at Düsseldorf Airport, travelling into the city centre is easy. Choose from train, bus, taxi, coach, hotel shuttle, car rental, car sharing or Uber. Travelling by train is the fastest way to reach Düsseldorf from the airport. There are two railway stations at Dusseldorf Airport: Dusseldorf Airport Train Station and Dusseldorf Airport Terminal Station. Urban Frequent Trains (S-Bahns) stop at Dusseldorf Airport Terminal Station, while Intercity Express Trains (ICEs) stop at Dusseldorf Airport Train Station. By train from Dusseldorf Airport Terminal Station, take the S-Bahn S11 to the main train station in town, which takes about 7 minutes. If you are taking a train from Dusseldorf Airport Train Station, you need to take the SkyTrain. There are several bus routes to the city centre and other surrounding areas, that depart from the arrivals hall. Coaches and shuttle services also operate from the airport to your destination. Taxis are a convenient way to travel and available day and night on the arrivals level. Getting around Düsseldorf
Getting around in Düsseldorf is easy, with an efficient range transport options to suit your needs. The city has an extensive range of transport options including metro, bus, tram, train, Uber and bikes. Düsseldorf Old Town is reasonably compact and easy to cover on foot. The remainder of the city has an excellent network of trams, buses and U-Bahn trains. By train, it’s easy to find a station by looking for the giant signs besides the entries, most often a white U lit-up on a blue background. The U-Bahn will easily get you to the major destinations. Trams are streetcars run through the city centre and neighbouring districts. Prices are the same as on the bus and U-Bahn and you can transfer with ease between the three modes of transportation. Buses are available, though it's quicker to take a tram or U-Bahn. A popular way to take it all in is by bike. It's easy to hire a bike and cycling around the lanes of the Altstadt and along the Rhine is enjoyable. Taxis are available and you need to hail a taxi from a dedicated rank or book by phone. Alternatively, you can book an Uber. Central Düsseldorf is compact, so its' not necessary to hire a car. If you need wheels, you rent a car through a car-sharing service.
