Mendoza is a laid-back city in the heart of Argentina's wine country, famed for Malbecs and other red wines. The city has wide, leafy avenues, bustling plazas with glorious fountains and lively bars and restaurants along the Av Arístides. It's the best place to base yourself to tour the bodegas (wineries), go water rafting along the Mendoza River and stroll through the Plaza Independencia. Be sure to wander the historic city centre, relax in Plaza España, known for its beautiful coloured Spanish tiles and dine on some of Argentina's finest steak. There’s plenty to do in Mendoza or take a trip to the nearby Andres.
When to visit
Mendoza has year-round sunshine, so there is always a good time to visit. Spring (October-November) and autumn (March-April) are the best times to visit with pleasant temperatures around 21°C, making it an ideal time to enjoy outdoor activities and visit the wineries. Summers (December to March) can be hot and humid, ranging from 25°C to 30°C making it a good time to relax in the Parque San Martin park or soak in the Villavicencio springs.

Governor Francisco Gabrielli International Airport (MDZ). Better known as El Plumerillo International Airport, is located 8 km northeast of the centre of Mendoza, Argentina.

Getting into Mendoza from Mendoza Airport
The distance between MDZ and the city is about 8 km which is approximately a 20-minute car ride. Bus lines 675 and 680 can take you from the airport to Mendoza city centre. However, you need a local Mendoza card, which you only buy in the city. There are taxis available at the airport, and they are called remis which have a fixed rate. You need to buy a ticket inside the terminal. Booking a private transfer from Mendoza Airport to the city is a good option, as you'll have a professional driver that can take you directly to your accommodation. App based ride share services are a handy way to get to your destination and can be booked with Uber, through the app. Car rental is available at the airport and it's best to pre-book in advance. Alternatively, you may wish to book a transfer with your hotel for a convenient option.
