Grant inclusions
The Qantas Regional Grants Program offers successful applicants three types of funding.
Grant Components
When applying for a Qantas Regional Grant, applicants should nominate if they are seeking cash, flights, marketing support or a combination of the grant components.
Cash
Cash grants are available to successful applicants each year and are paid in August. Organisations requesting funds for an event taking place prior to August each year will need to apply in the previous year to ensure funds are received in time. Applicants should intend to spend the value of any awarded grant within the 12 months following receipt.
Flights in kind
Qantas is proud to supply successful applicants with funds to use on Qantas flights domestically and internationally. These funds are made available via an online system that works much like an e-gift card and can be used towards any flight that Qantas operates (cannot be used for codeshare flights). Bookings can be made on qantas.com or via our sales team to the value of the awarded amount.
Marketing Contra
As Australia's leading airline, Qantas also owns a variety of omni-channel communications and platforms to reach consumers throughout their customer journey including inspiration and booking, pre-flight, inflight and post flight channels.
As a Qantas Regional Grant marketing contra recipient, successful organisations will gain unique access to our highly valued and award-winning marketing channels to raise awareness and further regional causes. This could include co-creating content for inflight commercials, Qantas Magazine advertisements and editorial pieces across our Travel Insider network, reaching high value travellers across both the leisure and corporate segments.
Each Regional Grant recipient will receive a tailored proposal based on their application and specific marketing objectives.
Marketing contra channels
Qantas marketing contra channels include, but are not limited to:
- television commercial (TVC) placements throughout our inflight entertainment systems,
- access to advertising screens in Qantas Clubs and Qantas Business Clubs domestically,
- advertorial and/or editorial inclusions in our electronic direct mail (eDM) sends,
- promotion across Qantas social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn,
- promotion across qantas.com,
- access to our in-house design and content team to create marketing assets for the successful applicants, and
- access to our staff communication channels to promote offers and/or causes.
Note: the process for booking marketing-in-kind services shall be agreed between the successful applicants and Qantas, acting in good faith. The exact timing and placement of the marketing-in-kind is based on availability to be mutually agreed between the successful applicant and Qantas.

Aussie Ark
To raise awareness of the eco-tourism sanctuary stays at Barrington Tops and to educate both Australian and international audiences on the work undertaken by Aussie Ark to support Australian wildlife and biodiversity, we created a TVC including all creative storyboarding, content capture, editing and grading for use by Aussie Ark. A 15” version was also created to use inflight across our network.
Qantas Magazine advertisement
fabALICE
To showcase both fabALICE and central Australia as a leisure destination to our travellers, Qantas Creative Services team created a print advertisement featuring fabALICE as a Qantas Regional Grant recipient. The ad was featured in the December 2023 Qantas Magazine edition.
