Things to do

Whether you’re in town for a day or staying awhile – we’ve picked some of the best events, activities and sights you won’t want to miss.

Geraldton is a coastal playground with a busy marina, great beaches and consistent summer winds that make it a mecca for windsurfers, kitesurfers and those wanting to lap up that West Australian sunshine. Two of Geraldton’s most popular festivals are Funtavia, Geraldton’s own fringe world festival of music, comedy and theatre held over three days in February; or visit during April to experience Wind on Water (WOW), an annual event with water sports and concerts on the foreshore.

Take an evening to relax, and set yourself up at at the striking HMAS Sydney II Memorial, one of the locals' favourite spots, to watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean. The Point Moore Lighthouse is an icon of the city and also a great place to stop and take in the magnificent ocean view while learning some of the region’s history.

Nature lover? Western Australia is renowned for its abundance of wildflowers, and there are a number of places in and around Geraldton to see them during the season of late July to early October. Drop in to the Geraldton Visitor Centre for an up-to-date guide on the best locations.
