When to visit

The best time to visit Bali is between April and October, the islands dry season. The average temperature throughout the year is around 30°C with a humidity level of about 85%. It's the perfect time to enjoy the beaches and hotel pools. The wet season from October to April, can bring heavy amounts of rain, with fewer tourists, though still a good time to shop at the many boutiques, visit the nearby temples and dine at one of the many restaurants.

What is the main airport called?

Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). Also known as Denpasar International Airport. It is located in southern Bali, 13 km south of Denpasar and about 15 minutes’ drive south of Kuta.

Arriving in Bali

When your flight arrives in Bali you’ll be welcomed by the staff the airport to get your visit off to the right start. 

Getting into Bali from Bali Airport 

With a range of transport options available at Bali Denpasar airport, getting to your accommodation is easy. Ngurah Rai Airport is in the south of the island, where most of the main tourist areas and hotels are located. Most hotels offer courtesy shuttle services for their guests so check with the hotel to organise a transfer. If you prefer, you can organise a private transfer for a relaxing way to start your holiday in Bali. Official taxis are located outside the terminal, with fixed prices listed depending on the hotel destination. Metered taxis can be found outside the airport, which are a little cheaper, though it's best to stick with the official taxis. It is possible to hire a car, if you wish to explore further outside of Bali.

Getting around Bali

Getting around Bali is easy, with a range of transport options to suit your travel needs. Choose from taxis, private drivers, walking, bicycle, scooter or join a tour. Local yellow taxis by the meter or blue taxis by fixed rate are easy to hail, or you can pre-book a taxi through a ride share app such as Grab. Grab is affordable, easy and a useful way to get around or you can use Bluebird which are official taxis. If you are visiting Jimbaran Bay or Ubud, it's customary to negotiate a return fare with your driver. It's possible to hire a private driver for a day if you are keen to explore further than the city and agree on a set price for the day. There are local tourist buses that operate across 8 routes through the city and an inexpensive way to get around. Bicycles are a fun way to get around, just be mindful of the traffic and walking is easy as most restaurants and cafes are located nearby most hotels.
