Uniforms
Learn about the history of our uniforms and the renowned fashion designer who created them.
We have a proud tradition of working with some of the world's best designers to develop uniforms for our Qantas team. Since it first hit the runway in 1938, the Qantas uniform has been an evocative symbol of service excellence and the irrepressible Australian spirit of travel.
In 2016, Qantas unveiled a new uniform from acclaimed Australian designer Martin Grant, our tenth since 1938.
A new look
Inspired by the Qantas logo, Martin Grant has created a fresh and contemporary range for our customer facing employees, the attitude is stylish but relaxed and comfortable.
The collection features a French navy, Qantas red, ruby red and fuchsia palette, with garments designed to be flattering on all body shapes. Martin's signature piece is the bold stripe dress ensuring our employees will be visible whether they're onboard or in the terminal.
The collection also saw the addition of a hat for our female cabin crew and the perfect trench in French navy - a chic addition to the range, which provides extra warmth in cooler climates.
To time with the delivery of our first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, we unveiled the latest pilot uniforms. Created by Martin Grant the navy suit is modern and sleek, with nostalgic design features linking back to the first Qantas pilot uniforms from the 1930s.
The new look is a modern, single-breasted, navy suit in a streamlined cut with a narrow trouser for males, and a more feminine version for women, including a specific female tie. The fabric is lighter, the shirt is more fitted and the gold stripes used to define rank are finer to give a more elegant look. The back of the jacket also features a red vent to add a splash of colour.
The suit is made from pure Australian merino wool and cotton in the shirting designed for high levels of comfort and different climates.
Our uniform is about our brand - uniting our ground and flying crew as "one team".
