How Qantas Wi-Fi works

Map showing Wi-Fi in Australia airspace

Qantas Wi-Fi is currently available on select domestic and international flights when travelling in Australian airspace. This is due to satellite coverage and regulatory requirements.

Wi-Fi enabled aircraft are fitted with an antenna and several Wi-Fi hotspots fitted into the ceiling. Once the aircraft has reached the required altitude, you can connect to the internet.

Once the aircraft leaves Australian airspace, Wi-Fi will no longer be available.

International Wi-Fi expansion

As we welcome our new Wi-Fi enabled A321XLR, A350 and B787 aircraft over the next few years, we’re working to bring you fast and free Wi-Fi for your full international journey. To make this happen, we’re partnering with Viasat to ensure clear connections to new satellites that can keep you connected everywhere in the air.
