When to visit

With mild weather all year round, anytime is the perfect time to visit Hamilton Island. Plan your trip between January and March for hot 30°C weather, although cyclones, humidity and afternoon showers are not uncommon at this time. April to June is the best time to visit with warm weather, less rain and crisp blue skies. July to September is popular for sailing, with hot sunny weather from October to December.

Hamilton Island Airport. Located 1km from the town centre, Hamilton Island Airport (HTI) is the main air hub for the Whitsunday Islands and Great Barrier Reef.

When your Qantas or Jetstar flight arrives at Hamilton Airport, you’ll be welcomed by the friendly staff at Hamilton Island Airport ready to get your break off to a great start. 

Getting into Hamilton Island from Hamilton Island Airport

If you are staying at one of the main hotels on the island, airport transfers for guests are included with the staff ready to take you to your accommodation. Hamilton Island is a car-free, though buggy hire is available and a resort bus service runs regularly to take you around the island. Hamilton Island Airport is only 1km from the town.

Getting around Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island is a car-free destination with buggies the main mode of transport. It’s best to pre-book a buggy to ensure availability when you arrive. There is a free shuttle bus that follows three routes around the island and runs regularly and it's easy to walk around the island with restaurants, pools and bars to try.

What is the main airport called? 

Tokyo International Airport (HND) Also known as Haneda Airport, Tokyo Haneda Airport, and Haneda International Airport, is one of two international airports serving the Greater Tokyo Area. It is located less than 30 minutes south of central Tokyo, considerably closer to the city centre than Narita Airport, Tokyo's other airport. There are free shuttle services between all terminals.

 All passengers flying from Hanada are allocated checked baggage If you need more luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online prior to departure.      

Checking in 

Ensure you can check-in online or via the Qantas App before you arrive at the airport from 24 hours before departure.
