Transfers

Fiumicino has two terminals (Terminal 1 and Terminal 3). Both terminals are connected and transferring between terminals is approximately a 5-6 minute walk.

Qantas international arrivals to domestic connections 
Customers arriving in Rome with connecting flights operated by ITA Airways on the same ticket can proceed to the ITA transfer desk or departure gate to collect your boarding pass. 

If your onward flight operated by ITA Airways is on a separate ticket, or with another carrier, you must collect your baggage on arrival and proceed to check in with the operating airline.

Qantas international arrivals to international connections
Customers arriving in Rome connecting to international locations should proceed to the operating airline's transfer counter or departure gate. Check the monitors available throughout the terminal for the departure location and gate.

Domestic and international connections to Qantas international departures
Customers arriving from domestic or international locations who are connecting to a Qantas flight must proceed to Boarding Area 'E' and undergo a passport check and security screening prior to boarding. Transfer customers requiring a boarding pass can see our team at the departure gate.

There are no ticketing facilities available at the airport. Contact your local Qantas office for assistance with any ticketing or re-booking requirements.

Check-in

Check-in opens 3 hours before departure for Qantas operated services, and closes 1 hour before departure.

Online check-in is available for Qantas international flights (QF1-199), and other eligible connecting flights operated by oneworld, partner and codeshare airlines. Online check-in opens 24 hours before your flight departure and closes 2 hours before international flight departures.

Transport Details
Taxis Authorised Taxis are white with a “Taxi” sign on the roof.  The symbol of the Municipality of reference is fixed to the front doors and the licence number is on the doors, on the back and inside the vehicle. Fixed fares apply. Rome city centre €50
Bus A number of bus companies operate between Rome Airport and the city centre for approximately €6-€10 per person each way, depending on the operator.
Train A train station is located within the airport at Terminal 3. Express and regional trains are available. The Leonardo Express usually leaves every 15 minutes and takes around 30 minutes to Rome city centre. Tickets start at approximately €18 per person one way.
Car hire The drive between Rome’s city centre and the airport usually takes between 30 minutes and one hour depending on traffic. Visit our cars section to make a booking.
