When to visit

Gothenburg has four distinct seasons and depending on the type of activities you wish to do, there is always a good time to visit. The most popular time to visit in in summer (June to August) with warm sunny days, it’s possible to swim in the sea and see the Midnight sun. Temperatures range around 22°C. Late Spring is also a nice time to visit as open-air cafes and beer gardens pop up around town. Days in autumn are crisp and it’s a good time to enjoy great shellfish, exhibitions and many galleries.

Göteborg Landvetter Airport (GOT). It is an international airport serving the Gothenburg region in Sweden. It is 20 km east-southeast of Gothenburg.

The staff at Gothenburg Airport will greet you when you land and assist with your travel needs. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are various transport options available to get you on your way.         

Getting into Gothenburg from Gothenburg Airport

Getting into Gothenburg from the airport is easy with various transport options to suit your travel needs. Choose from bus, taxi, Uber, transfer, car sharing and rental cars. Taxis are available outside the arrivals hall and are a comfortable way to travel. The travel time to Gothenburg city centre is around 25 minutes and taxis are metered. Uber operates from the airport and is a handy way to travel to your destination, just book your ride through the app. By bus, it takes 20 minutes to travel by Flygbuss airport coach between the airport and Gothenburg centre. There are various stops along the way and buses are located directly outside the check-in hall. Car sharing is a quick and comfortable way to get to your destination, just book and open the car by using an app or a smartcard. Rental cars are available from the car park and it's a great way to explore more of Gothenburg.  

Getting around Gothenburg

When travelling in Gothenburg there are plenty of transport options to explore the city. The best way to get around Gothenburg is by the excellent public transportation system: trams, buses, trains and boats run across various through the city. It's best to buy a travel card to use to across public transport. Boats and ferries run across and along the river Göta älv. The Älvsnabbare ferry takes you across the river between Stenpiren and Lindholmspiren. It’s free, so you don’t need a ticket making it a scenic way to see the city. There is a bike rental system, that makes it easy to rent a bike and a fun way to see Gothenburg. Using the Voi app, you can find and rent electric scooters in the city and be sure to ride in the bike lanes. Uber, Bolt and Lime ride share services operate through the city, making it handy to get to where you want to go. Taxis are another option, where you can hail one on the street or grab one from a designated taxi ranks. Taxi prices in Sweden are not regulated, which means that prices can vary greatly between operators. So be sure to check the prices beforehand. Electric cars are popular in Gothenburg and there are plenty of stations to charge them, or you can rent a car during your stay.

Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Meaning golden land. Also known unofficially as Bangkok Airport. It’s the international arrival point in Thailand and a major transfer hub for Southeast Asia. Bangkok International Airport is located approximately 26km outside of town.

All passengers flying from Bangkok are allocated checked baggage If you need more luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online prior to departure.
