When to visit

Malaga is a popular port city located on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain. It has a Mediterranean climate, with sunshine throughout the year, hot summers and mild winters. If you love the heat and sun, the best time to visit Malaga is between June and September. The hottest time of the year is summer (July and August), which has an average temperature of 31°C. It's the best time for swimming, dining outdoors and visiting the parks. For less crowds, late spring (April to June) and autumn (September and October) are also good times to visit with sunny days and temperatures averaging around 27°C.

What is the main airport called?

Málaga Airport (AGP). Officially Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport. It is the main international airport serving the Costa del Sol, Spain. It is located 8 km southwest of Málaga and 5 km north of Torremolinos.

Arriving in Malaga

When your flight arrives in Malaga, you’ll be welcomed by the staff the airport to get your visit off to the right start. 

Getting into Malaga from Malaga Airport     

Getting into Malaga is easy, with a range of transport options to suit your needs. Choose from public transport, taxi, hotel shuttle, private transfer or car rental. There are several buses that run along the Costa Del Sol, the A Express Bus that goes to Malaga Bus Station stopping along the way and takes about 15 minutes to reach the city centre or direct express buses to Marbella, Estepona and Algeciras. The bus stop is located outside the arrivals area. By train, the C1 line connects Malaga Airport to the city centre within approximately 12 minutes, and runs every 20 minutes. Be sure to get off the train at Centro-Alameda station, as this one is in the city centre. There are always plenty of taxis waiting at the taxi ranks at Malaga Airport, that run on a metre. It takes approximately 20 minutes to reach the city. Private transfers are a convenient way to travel and best booked in advance. The driver will greet you in the arrivals hall and take you to your destination, without needing to wait for a bus or queue for a taxi. Renting a car is another option to explore more of Malaga and the Costa del Sol with car hire companies located inside the airport. 

Getting around Malaga

There are plenty of transport options available in Malaga and some of the best ways to see the city are walking, hop and hop off bus, bicycle, bike taxis, segway tour, train, metro and bus. Walking is possibly the best way to see the sites of Malaga, it's free, and lets you to take whichever route you like and stop as often as you wish. It's also possible to join a guided tour. You may like to rent a bike as its faster than walking and you're more likely to see the sights. Malaga is famous for its bike taxis, were you can sit in a carriage, which is towed along behind a bike. Segway is a fun way to get around, as you get a guided tour as you see the sights. Taxis are an efficient way to travel with many ranks located throughout the city or you can hail one on the street. Trains operate in the city and to other Spanish cities or you can take the metro or one of the many buses. A great way to get your bearings around Malaga City and to take in the best sights is to ride the hop on, hop off bus. It's easy to hire a car to see Malaga and the region of Costa del Sol, as car rental is not too expensive.

Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Meaning golden land. Also known unofficially as Bangkok Airport. It’s the international arrival point in Thailand and a major transfer hub for Southeast Asia. Bangkok International Airport is located approximately 26km outside of town.
