Locals are known for their sharp dressing, fast cars and fancy restaurants, though most are happy to hike the surrounding mountains, relax in hot springs and catch up with friends in the rustic wine taverns. Be sure to visit the Weissenhof Estate museum, Schlossplatz central square to enjoy an open-air concert and in winter, the Christmas markets or enjoy world-class opera. Stuttgart art has a south European feel, with plenty of hiking, traditional foods and many green parks. It's a lively German city with plenty of things to do.

Stuttgart, the capital of the state of Baden-Württemberg, located in southwestern Germany experiences cold winters and mild warm summers. The best times to visit Stuttgart are from mid-May to mid-September, as it's the mildest time of the year. Spring (March to May) temperatures range from 5°C to 13°C, so it's quite cool making it lovely time to visit the Porsche Museum and the stunning Schlossgarten gardens. Summer (June to August) has hot sunny days with some thunderstorms, though it's a good time refresh in a mineral bath, join a walking tour or visit the vineyards that surround the city. September is pleasant too with an average temperature around 14°C.

Stuttgart Airport (STR). It is the international airport of Stuttgart, the capital of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is located approximately 13 km south of Stuttgart.

Getting into Stuttgart from Stuttgart Airport
For a relaxed start to get into Stuttgart from the airport, choose from train, bus, taxi, hotel transfers, rental cars, car sharing or Uber. By the S-Bahn train you can get to Stuttgart's main railway station in 30 minutes and the train stop is located opposite the airport building. It's a quick and efficient way to get to the city centre. Local and regional buses connect the city with the airport on routes 806 and 828. It takes approximately 40 minutes to get to town. The Stuttgart Airport Busterminal (SAB), located at Terminal 4 is the regional bus service, connecting to other destinations in the region. Taxis are located outside any of the four terminals and is a safe way to travel, taking around 20 minutes or you can book an Uber. Car sharing services are located at Terminal 1 and another good way to get to your destination.
Getting around Stuttgart
Getting around Stuttgart is smooth and easy as the city features a good integrated public transport network of trains and buses. The rail network has two main forms, the U-Bahn, which serves the city and it's suburbs and the S-Bahn that runs out to the airport and surrounding towns. You can buy single tickets, valid for 3 hours or if you are planning to sightsee a number of locations, its best to buy a one-day ticket. Taxis are available throughout the town and is a comfortable way to travel, or you can book an Uber through the app. Hire cars are available from all the main providers or you can use the car sharing system for a few hours at a time, without needing to hire a car. Cycling is one of the best ways to get around Stuttgart, the city is hilly, though the cycle lanes mean it’s a good way to travel around the German city. Bike rental outlets are scattered through the city and offer good sightseeing opportunities.
