Afternoon tea is all the rage in Bali and purists wishing to honour this graceful ritual in classic style must head to Biku. Set in a beautifully restored joglo (wooden house) that was formerly an antique shop, everything at Biku has a sense of history, from the ornate chandeliers and recycled teak furniture to the porcelain dolls, vintage china tea sets and ethnic curios that fill the antique cupboards. Traditional afternoon tea comes with all the embellishments: strawberries and cream, tea pots wrapped in cosies, cucumber sandwiches, fresh scones, dainty cupcakes sprinkled with silver sparkles and even gingerbread men. Biku has one of the largest choices of tea on the island and you can spice up your afternoon with Champagne, cocktails or a tarot reading by a resident mystic. High Tea aside, Biku has a good menu of international food.
