Just a short trip across the sea, Bali's pretty little sister Nusa Lembongan provides a laidback escape for day trips and quiet vacations. A number of speedboats make the journey but if you like to travel in style, step aboard the graceful Waka Catamaran, where classical music, hot coffee and fresh pastries await. Arriving on the reef-fringed shores of Nusa Lembongan, a glass-bottomed boat transfers you across the sea and onto the powdery sand of Mushroom Bay. Lounge under the palm trees, snorkel the underwater wonderland of coral-encrusted bommies and vibrant tropical fish or take a leisurely paddle in a canoe to explore the rocky coastline. You can also stay overnight in an atmospheric lanai (a round thatched bungalow) in the newly renovated NusaBay Lembongan Resort.

Location

The Waka sets sail from Benoa Harbour on Bali’s south-eastern coast and is also available for private charter. The journey to Lembongan takes 90 minutes. The peaceful island has reefs, mangroves, surf breaks, a fair range of budget resorts and some luxury hotels and villas. Speedboats do the trip a little more quickly.
