Nature is everywhere at this breezy resort: in the branches of the Pulai that greet you as you enter through the grand lobby, in the lush layers of established foliage  decorating the atrium-style areas and, most impressively, in the cocktail bar directly below that wraps around its trunk. It follows then that the heart of the hotel is the sprawling central garden and pool space. Here, the guests — ranging from lazy couples to young families — all happily mingle in the lush landscaped surrounds.

Hotel Indigo resides in hip Seminyak, between Double Six and Seminyak Beaches. It’s about 20 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport (depending on often unpredictable Bali traffic).

What’s near Hotel Indigo Seminyak Beach?

Holidaying in the heart of Seminyak means whatever you’ve come to Bali to find, you’ll find it nearby. The neighbourhood’s boutiques, bars and beaches are all within strolling distance — it’s a pleasant 20-minute wander on the sand to Ku De Ta restaurant, for example – while buzzy Legian Beach is less than 10 minutes walk south.

Room types 

It’s a pleasure to weave your way around clusters of tropical foliage to find your room, which points directly onto the hotel gardens. All rooms have balconies fitted with comfy day beds – perfect for breezy morning coffees (you’ll find an espresso machine  in the corner of your room). Bathrooms are “spa-inspired”, with generous waterfall showers and colourful mosaic tiling. 

Restaurants and bars 

The hotel’s main eatery, Makase, dishes up such an extensive buffet at breakfast, it sprawls across multiple rooms. Guests tend to gather around the fresh fruit and stir-fry sections and the collection of sambals near the omelette stations is well worth multiple spoonings. There’s also an à la carte selection should the spread not suffice. The kitchen also serves a list of classic hotel fare (burgers, pizzas etc), alongside a few Indonesian classics (nasi goreng) at lunch and dinner. 

There are other eateries scattered around the social areas of the hotel — SugarSand hugs its own pool overlooking Seminyak Beach, Cave Pool Lounge straddles the rambling central pool and Kiosk fronts the beach side — so you’re never without a drink in hand.

Travel for work

With free and easily accessible wi-fi throughout the property, you can easily work from any corner, be it the full-sized in-room desk or the pond-edged bar.

Spa, pool and gym  

Traverse a bridge into Sava Spa and you’ll feel like you’ve entered another universe (one that resembles some kind of futuristic Denis Villeneuve set). You’ll feel a million miles from Seminyak’s near-constant hum of activity thanks to a meditative labyrinth of treatment rooms that’s complemented by sensitive staff, soothing treatments and a glorious post-session space that sits below the lobby. 

There are several pools on-site, often only divided by clever landscaping. The tranquil courtyard pool is heaven for book-toting holiday-makers, while the infinity pool at SugarSand is the place for morning-after restoration. For an endorphin recharge, the 24-hour hotel health club has enough free weights, TRX suspension equipment and cardio machines to really get the heart pumping.

What you need to know

The warm, family-friendly attitude is everywhere at Hotel Indigo. The kids’ splash pool is shallow and features a fun little waterfall; high-chairs are anticipated almost before you reach your table; and activities, such as Balinese dress-up, are performed in a picturesque section of the lobby that overlooks the hotel’s gardens.
