Hilton Tokyo Odaiba – Hotel Review

Sandwiched between Tokyo Disneyland and the rest of the city on the edge of the glittering bay, the comfy and convenient Hilton Tokyo Odaiba is a straight shot in either direction from the capital’s major drawcards. Read on for the full review.

As a ‘good neighbour’ hotel of Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, families (or fun park enthusiasts) have access to a direct shuttle to Tokyo Disney Resort, while a monorail delivers guests to the frenetic Shimbashi station in the city’s heart in less than 25 minutes. It’s the best of both worlds — with a few notable on-site extras, most notably heated rooftop whirlpools and wonderful views of Tokyo from its location across the bay.

Where is Hilton Tokyo Odaiba?

On the man-made island of Odaiba, just east of Tokyo’s centre. Connected to the city by the Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba is a more peaceful place to plant your suitcase, an hour and half from Tokyo’s Narita International Airport.

What’s near Hilton Tokyo Odaiba?

Those kids aren’t going to tire themselves out; grab a space on the direct shuttle to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea (about 25 minutes). Still got energy to burn? The local outpost of Madame Tussauds is also on the ‘island’, a short 10-minute walk away. Heading into Tokyo is lightning-quick, too — a single 25-minute monorail ride and you’re in the thick of the metropolis.

Room types

Dressed in shades of macadamia beige, the rooms are comfy and tranquil, with balconies, pillow menus and full workstations. The real coup is grabbing the Twin Deluxe Terrace Suite, complete with a private balcony and jacuzzi, in addition to lounge access and a full kitchen and dining area.

Restaurants and bars

There’s a dizzying array of eateries on-site, dishing up Japanese, Cantonese and beyond. If you’ve come to Japan for the food - and you should - pull up a chair at Sakura, a relaxed restaurant serving sushi, teppanyaki and tempura, with shoji window feature walls. Big appetites will be satiated at Grillogy Bar and Grill, where minimal intervention — and maximum heat — keeps the flavour profile of the proteins (beef, seafood and everything in between) clean, the highlight being charcoal-grilled tomahawk steak, fired up to perfection in the open kitchen.

Travel for work

Views of Tokyo Bay and Rainbow Bridge are stunning from the hotel’s executive lounge, where complimentary meals, drinks and snacks are served throughout the day. If you’re buried in emails, it’s the perfect place to pull up a chair and worth the upgrade to Executive Room, Premium Executive Room and Suite Rooms. Hilton Honours Diamond members also get this perk.

Spa, gym and pool

For all the glory of a rooftop jacuzzi pool that looks out over Tokyo Bay, the epic feature falls a little flat when guests find out there’s a fee to fork out before diving in (it’s around AUD$30 per guest to use both the indoor and outdoor pool). The fee includes entry to the aroma mist and dry saunas, and there’s also a spa for massages and beyond. The fitness centre thankfully has no fee.
