The latest addition to Canberra's ever-growing dining scene, Joe's Bar offers a carefully curated wine list, classic cocktails and modern-Italian fare.

Headed up by siblings Dan and Dion Bisa, the space pays homage to their Italian roots with a Venetian aesthetic that features Murano glass and a rich colour palette – all tucked neatly into the ground floor of the East Hotel in Kingston.

“We wanted to take all the inspiration we have gathered from the glamour and sophistication of the truly stunning bars we have enjoyed in Italy and create something that melds these qualities with the vibrant energy of the bar and restaurant scene in Australia,” said Dan Bisa.

The wine list also marries the Bisa’s heritage with the local scene. Enjoy a tipple from Piedmont or Tuscany, or a drop from the Canberra region’s best vineyards.

When it’s time for eating, there’s a fantastic selection of antipasti, including smoked burrata and Tuscan chicken liver parfait, as well as more hearty options like 48-hour sous-vide wagyu beef brisket.

And if you’ve got a sweet tooth you have to finish with the Tramezzino al Gelato – house-made vanilla gelato sandwiched between Sicilian pistachio cookies. Yum!
