Formerly the rather stuffy Rydges Lakeside, this property received a new lease on life when acquired by the QT Hotel and Resorts group, not to mention a $6 million makeover. Out with the old and in with the hipster barbershop and speakeasy styled bar - though the original sentinel-like views of Lake Burley Griffin and its Parliamentary Triangle remain unsullied. But it’s the fun, hip styling that QT hotels have become known for (think slick interiors with dashes of colour and quirk) that has reinvigorated everything about this address and completed the hotel’s transformation from ugly duckling into a trendy swan capable of holding quarter with its hyped neighbours in New Acton.
