This iconic two-hour (3.7-kilometre) walk is one of the best ways to explore Byron Bay’s unique location – without having to hustle for parking at the lighthouse. The coastal track offers a sea eagle’s view of pristine beaches, surfers and, in winter, migrating whales. At Cape Byron, mainland Australia’s most easterly point, take a lighthouse tour (+61 2 6620 9300, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays) or just stand with the wind in your hair and gaze out at the ocean, Tallow Beach to the south, Mount Warning to the north and the green hinterland behind Byron.
