Art Gallery of NSW
As one of Australia’s leading art museums, it’s no surprise that the Art Gallery of NSW attracts more than one million visitors every year. The gallery’s collection includes Australian masters, renowned Indigenous work, Asian art and photography. There’s also a diverse exhibition program, including the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes (annually, between July and September). On Wednesday evenings, the gallery stays open until 10pm for Art After Hours. Free general admission; charges apply for some exhibitions.
Location
The Art Gallery of NSW is located in The Domain, a short stroll from Circular Quay via the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens. On its other side lies the historic Finger Wharf, home to famous restaurants – Otto, Manta and China Doll – and some of Sydney’s most luxurious apartments.
