For casual dining in a vibrant, beachside setting, head to Merivale’s Coogee Pavilion. On the ground floor, Italian-born chef Vincenzo Biondini creates wood-fired pizzas guaranteed to please. Little ones will love the nostalgic games room, complete with giant scrabble, ping-pong and an in-house theatrette. Upstairs, the Coogee Pavilion Rooftop boasts a spectacular outdoor terrace, as well as moreish eastern Mediterranean share plates. Note this area is reserved for over 18s. This is one of Sydney’s best venues to enjoy dinner and drinks, especially at sunset. It is extremely popular with locals as well, so it’s best to book in advance.

Location
Sun-drenched Coogee is a local favourite for surfers, families and lap swimmers who flock to the historic Wylie’s Baths – but the cafés and restaurants also draw their fair share of crowds. And while we’ll never pass on an elegant dinner and drinks, there’s still pleasure to be had in a simple ice-cream cone and stroll along the beach.
