Eden – Restaurant Review
The leaf-shaped logo might be a giveaway and if you hang out in Bondi, chances are you’ve spotted the beautiful people going meat- and dairy-free at this newish addition to the Pacific building’s internal atrium, opposite the QT Hotel reception.
The indoor-outdoor set-up includes a canopy of market umbrellas shading a leafy courtyard, while the food is from the looks like school of modern vegan dining: think a not-haloumi burger and a no-cheese cheesecake, with plenty of coconut and cashew substitutes. There’s a tight but terrific drinks list with several organic options. A nigiri sushi starter provides an ooh-ahh moment, with sweet little rice mounds (white not brown grains) topped with a fan of avocado, a smoky salmon look-alike carrot slice and a dice of tastes-like tuna – soy-pickled watermelon.
Spaghetti with “scallops” of umami-rich mushroom and chilli will please most preferences, while tacos, pizzas and a not-bolognese deliver the comfort-food factor.
Level 1, 180 Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach; 0406 630 660; open Saturday-Sunday for lunch and Wednesday-Sunday for dinner.
