This Hotel Gives You the Full Bondi Lifestyle
Best for
Anyone who wants an alternative to a traditional hotel; creatives, babymooners, luxury seekers.
The Hotel
Although no rooms at the QT Bondi have views of the rolling blue Pacific, it’s no loss. Either overlooking the internal atrium or looking out over the back of Bondi, each has an abundance of natural light. True to the QT brand, there’s a gentle playfulness that’s intimate and irreverent, without compromising on style. The foyer is a small, discreet space; no busy symphony of ringing telephones or squeaks from suitcase wheels being dragged across glossy floors. Expect a genuinely friendly greeting and concierge services like dinner bookings or drinks to make you feel right at home.
The Location
The QT has a hotel car service and it’s 15 kilometres from the airport. Once here, you’re right in the very thick of Bondi – where the busy neighbourhood kisses the iconic beach. The beach itself is just across the road and the hotel backs onto one of the suburb’s chicest shopping strips.
The Rooms
There’s a wide range of accommodation options with 69 studios and apartments. All are spacious, starting at 30 square metres, and include kitchenettes and laundries. The bathrooms feature deep baths, chic black tapware and cult Malin and Goetz toiletries. It’s the details that really count and the QT delivers thoughtful touches in spades. There’s a DeLonghi coffee machine in each room (although bring your own pods if coffee is important to you, ours only had three provided and no-one wants an early morning battle over who gets the second cup). The hooded hotel robes are soft and warm; perfect for lounging in front of the enormous TVs in the lounge and bedrooms.
Food and Drink
QT does not have any in-hotel restaurants or dining, nor does it need to. If you want to eat-in, they’ve got a great selection of local restaurants happy to deliver to your room. The other option is to hit the nearby high-end grocery stores for fresh produce and whip up a home-cooked meal. For ice, dial 8 and the staff will be at your door in minutes. The mini-bar is a mix of the usual – potato chips and nuts; the decadent – artisan rocky road and freckle chocolate bars; the practical – waterproof iPhone pouch, a beard trimming kit; and the playful – games such as Pick-Up Sticks.
For business travellers
Bondi is full of people tapping away at their laptops while enjoying a turmeric latte, so feel free to join the creative types in the nearby cafés. Alternatively, the QT has free wi-fi, photocopying and printing services for a fee and each room has a good-size table you can set up your tech on.
For wellness travellers
Find a room
There’s guest access to the Speedo Fitness Club, situated in the basement of the hotel. Enjoy a heated 25-metre pool and full gym. Alternatively, hit the beach and try a spot of soft-sand running – being on the beach early in the morning with other fitness-loving locals watching the sun rising over the ocean is a rather special way to start the day. The locals love Power Living Yoga, a three-minute walk from the hotel. For a relaxing pampering session, the friendly QT staff recommend The Face Plus MediSpa in the hotel precinct.
The fab factor
The QT has you on the doorsteps of some of the very best restaurants in Sydney, from Blanca for a mod Scandi/Japanese fusion to the low-key, Italian-inflected luxe of Sean’s Panaroma.
