Queen Victoria Building
Occupying an entire block on the site of Sydney’s first markets, today the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) continues to be a bustling shopping centre. Built in the late nineteenth century, its ornate stained-glass windows, grand central dome and clocks are still worthy of attention. Guided 45-minute tours run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:30am for $15 (there's a High Tea option on Thursdays for $60). Relax at The Palace Tea Room or shop till you drop at over 200 specialty stores. Town Hall Station is easily accessible via the lower ground floor.
Location
Sydney’s CBD is rich with historic landmarks and places to take in panoramic views but traverse its low-key lanes and you’ll find some of the city’s best small bars, cafés and restaurants. Whisky lovers should head to Baxter Inn while Neil Perry’s flagship restaurant, Rockpool, attracts the culinary elite.
