It seems Sydneysiders can’t get enough of drinking wine in the harbour.

First, Wine Island turned Clark Island into a grape lover’s dream. Now, the Cellar Door at Sea is about to pop up in the heart of Sydney Harbour.

South Australia’s Taylors Winery is bringing some of its best bottles from the Clare Valley to Sydney for a long weekend of vino tasting from Friday, 7 December so you can pair a glass of shiraz with a perfect view.

Be whisked away by water taxi from the Man o’War Steps under the Opera House for 60 minutes of wine tasting and canapés in a floating shipping container that’s been converted into a glass-walled, 12-metre long tasting room.

The custom-built room rests upon a barge in picturesque Farm Cove, with 12 visitors able to visit per hour-long session.

But Taylors isn’t just putting on the event to give you something to Instagram this summer. The pop-up is a way to showcase the relationship between temperature and taste: the reds on offer will be chilled, with the Taylor family hoping to break our habit of drinking red wine at room temperature.

Get your palette prepped: the cellar door is in the harbour for only three days, with ticket prices including return water taxi, canapés and most importantly, the wine.

So all aboard Sydney – grab a glass and get swirling.
