Infinity – Restaurant Review
Good views and good food don’t often go hand in hand. But Trippas White Group is out to prove that wrong with the recent launch of three new venues atop Sydney Tower (formerly known as Centre Point).
Perched on the building’s 83rd floor is – what’s now – the city’s highest watering hole, Bar 83 (pictured above). Sweeping city views, a drinks list that nods to both local wines and ingredients, and striking Jetsons-inspired red and white interiors by Surry Hills-based firm Loopcreative are just some of the draw cards here. This is the only venue among the three that doesn’t revolve. But have one of bartender Jenna Hemsworth’s concoctions (Fermi Paradox, perhaps, with whisky, honey and native pepper berry) and we bet your head will be spinning in no time.
One floor down, you’ll find the revolving SkyFeast (pictured above) – a relaxed eatery offering bottomless brunches and lunches amid Australiana-inspired interiors. Think tan leather banquets, timber tables and a curved feature wall covered in custom-made terracotta tiles.
The pièce de résistance, however, is Infinity (pictured above): the revolving fine-diner located on the 81st floor with exquisite furnishings – marble table tops, dark-stained timber, gold and brass accents, and seductive low lighting that keeps the focus squarely on the ever-changing views.
Trippas White Group’s executive chef George Diamond has managed to enrol former Bridge Room chef Mike Dierlinger, who has created two set menus. While the five-course option – with steamed hapuka and miso-laced raw swordfish – is enough to fill you up and give you at least a couple of revolutions with stellar views of Sydney after dark, if you wish to make a night of it, opt for the seven course dégustation with matching wines. Just don’t forget to take your appetite.
