Vibe Hotel Sydney – Hotel Review

Want to stay somewhere that fringes both the edge of Sydney’s CBD and the vibrant inner-city suburb of Surry Hills? It’s a case of vibe by name and nature at Vibe Hotel on Sydney’s Goulburn Street. Read on for the full review.

A clean, yet bold approach to the room interiors — think tones of moody black and chocolate brown with gold accents — offers Vibe Hotel guests a haven from Surry Hills’ gritty, characterful surrounds. Beds are often orientated towards windows that capture the historic warehouse facades of the semi-industrial surrounds. The rooftop plunge pool is a welcome addition — especially when you’re rolling home after a lively lunch at one of the nearby eateries.

Where is Vibe Hotel?

Vibe Hotel is located on the corner of Goulburn and Elizabeth streets, a 10-minute walk from Central Station, which easily connects to Sydney International and Domestic Airports via the Airport Link train in just 13 minutes. It’s approximately a 20-minute drive from the airport.

What’s near Vibe Hotel?

Vibe Hotel borders both the southern end of Sydney CBD and the restaurant hub of Surry Hills. There’s only a few hundred metres between Vibe Hotel and of-the-moment eateries Chin Chin, Poly and Pellegrino 2000, as well as the retro Golden Age Cinema and Hollywood Hotel for relaxed bevvies. Chinatown and Haymarket’s Capitol Theatre are also less than 10 minutes away by foot.

Room types

Room types at Vibe Hotel can accommodate up to four, with a range of configurations. Each room type includes a coffee machine with pods and free Wi-fi at 512 kbps, while Executive and above include bathtubs.

Restaurants and bars

Storehouse Sydney Central is the hotel’s eatery, located on the ground floor near the lobby. It’s a light-filled space accented by parquetry flooring and shaggy indoor plants, open from 6.30am until 9.30pm, with varying offerings throughout the day. The fare is fresh and uncomplicated: think bacon and egg rolls at breakfast and share plates in the evening. Some room types include a breakfast voucher for use at Storehouse.

Travel for work

Every room type offers a small desk for remote working, as well as free in-room Wi-fi (Wi-fi at a higher speed can be purchased for an additional fee). There are also two meeting rooms available for hire on-site, with a capacity of up to 200.

Pool, gym and sauna

You won’t be doing laps in Vibe Hotel’s small outdoor pool on the rooftop but there’s certainly enough room for a cool off. There’s also a small gym that overlooks it, equipped with a treadmill, bicycle, elliptical and weights. Both are accessible from 6am until 10pm daily. The property does have a sauna on-site, however at the time of writing, it was closed for renovation.

What you need to know

Storehouse Central offers an Aperitivo Hour from 4-6pm, when spritzes are, of course, the fare du jour.
