At these Darwin Markets, you'll find stalls selling the best of the territory's art, crafts, food and much more.

Darwin has an excellent range of markets that are run at various times and locations throughout the week. Although the focus is maily on food but there are also many stalls selling jewellery, clothing, art, crafts and toys. Thursday and Sunday nights from April to October, head to Mindil Beach Sunset Market (Mindil Beach; +61 (08) 8981 3454) to check out the sterling silver and pearl jewellery or, for something completely unexpected, handmade leather whips. Saturday mornings year-round, Parap Village Markets (Parap Place; +61 8 8942 0805) is home to semi-precious gems, jewellery crafted from kangaroo leather and pearls, and handmade soaps. Every Sunday morning, Nightcliff Markets (Progress Drive; +61 8 8948 3252) sell crafts, handmade cards, children’s toys, clothing and more.

For the best market food: For a city with such strong Chinese heritage, Darwin is surprisingly lacking in yum cha venues. What it has instead is a weekend culture of breakfasting and brunching on savoury snacks at the markets: Parap Village Market on Saturday mornings; Nightcliff Markets (Progress Drive; +61 8 8948 3252) and Rapid Creek Sunday Markets (Trower Road; +61 8 8948 4866) on Sunday mornings. Popular choices include laksa, Vietnamese banh mi and Thai stuffed chicken wings.
