Lazy Susan's Eating House - Restaurant Review
Despite Darwin’s sizeable Chinese population, yum cha options have been thin on the ground… until now.
Top End hospitality powerhouse Jason Hanna, of Nirvana and Chow fame, has introduced weekend yum cha to his fun CBD venue, Lazy Susan's.
The scale of the operation precludes the trolley experience but the dishes are impressive in both variety and quality. Dark timber and red walls studded with blue-and-white china are the backdrop for buns, rolls and dumplings, including exquisite bánh cuổn – steamed Vietnamese rice rolls filled with pork, wood-ear fungus and bean sprouts. If you’re game, there’s a tripe and tendon dish and, of course, chicken feet. An Espresso Martini made with Vietnamese coffee is also a must.
