Wind down on the south side of the river at family-friendly Rydges South Bank. Everyone can enjoy the rooftop pool and kids can make friends with the resident inflatable swans from 6am-6pm daily. If that’s not enough splish-splash, wander a few hundred metres from the front door to enjoy the view of the River City from Brisbane’s finest man-made beach, Streets Beach, featuring clear lagoons and white sands. Then it’s just a short dash back to the room to freshen up for an afternoon of arts at the nearby cultural precinct housing the Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Art Gallery, Queensland Museum and State Library. Closer still is the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, a destination for major productions such as Wicked and Disney’s The Lion King. Rydges is also well suited to business travellers, with in-room workspaces and function rooms available. It also offers gym facilities, open 6am to 10pm.
