Riverside Markets at the Botanic Gardens

The location of the Riverside Markets alone is worth a visit. Stalls are set up among the lush surrounds of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, right on the banks of the river. Musicians and street performers create a lively atmosphere in which to browse the compact collection of jewellery, ceramics, clothes and accessories along with natural skincare and food.

Sunday Discovery Markets

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. If you’re into up-cycling or collecting, you could spend hours exploring the hundreds of stalls at the sprawling Sunday Discovery flea market. There’s an eclectic mix of new and second-hand items, from books and pet accessories to old coins and crockery.

Northey Street City Farm Organic Market

This urban permaculture farm just a stone’s throw from the CBD becomes a bustling hive of activity on Sundays. Stalls are set up under the trees with all manner of organic fruit, vegetables, meat, grains, dairy and baked goods as well as hot food. Everything here is grown and processed without the use of synthetic chemicals, fertilisers or GMOs. The farm also encompasses a small nursery with bush tucker plants, organic seeds and permaculture books.

The Collective Markets

Running all weekend, this market has a street-party vibe as emerging designers, vintage fashion collectors and other creative types come together to showcase their wares amid the bustling cafés and bars of South Bank. The Collective Markets are full of works of art, craft, fashion, jewellery, photography, henna-tattoo art, photography, homewares, recycled fashion and collectables and more.

Queen Street Farmers Market

If you’re in the city and notice corporate types scoffing German sausages on the go, or toting giant bags of popcorn or punnets of berries, then you know it’s Wednesday, Queen Street Farmers Market day. Reddacliffe Place at the top of the mall is jam-packed with every kind of food imaginable, from goat pies to gnocchi, gruyere and ginger beer – and myriad fresh produce.

Wednesday 8am-6pm, 21 Queen Street, Brisbane

Davies Park Market

Wander the winding tree-lined pathways taking in the sights and smells of the laid-back Davies Park Market in vibrant West End. Get a massage by the river, pick out some crystals or handmade soaps then a Romani-spiced chai, hot chocolate or coffee from the gypsy wagon and relax under the shade of the giant fig trees.

Brisbane Twilight Market

Held in the square outside Brisbane City Hall, the Brisbane Twilight Market is a friendly, “meet the maker” event, with everything on offer handmade by local artisans. There are colourful textiles, homewares, prints, clothing, local food vendors, live music and even a free craft workshop to get your own creative juices flowing.

Powerhouse Farmers Markets

With New Farm Park on one side and the iconic Brisbane Powerhouse (Brisbane’s creative entertainment venue) this is a must-visit location. The Powerhouse Farmers Markets offer homewares, flowers, fresh produce and plenty of delicious morsels to enjoy on the spot.
